  • March 17th, 2023 - Section Chairpersons send program pages and timeline.
  • March 17th, 2023 - Section Chairpersons send program pages and timeline. NAS section chairpersons will notify presenters of abstract acceptance
  • April 10th, 2023 -  Online Registration closes, will reopen the morning of the meeting 
  • April 20th, 2023 - Nebraska Junior Academy of Sciences State Competition
  • April 21st, 2023 - 132st NAS Annual Meeting.

Grant Reiner

PRODUCER & CINEMATOGRAPHER

PLATTE BASIN TIMELAPSE

Grant is a filmmaker and photographer passionate about conservation storytelling; showcasing under-appreciate landscapes and species.  Grant has been a producer with the Platte Basin Timeline since 2017.  He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife and a Masters Degree of Applied Science with an emphasis in Science Communication.  Grant is passionate about conservation of natural spaces by the blending of art and science.  Learning is a life time process for Grant.  His ever growing curiosity is what drives him to tell stories around a watershed with the Platte Basin Timelapse.  Outside of work, he enjoys gardening/landscaping with his wife and two dogs, exploring wild spaces and hunting and fishing.

2023 Friend of Science

Dr. Ray Ward

Dr. Ray Ward is the founder and past President Ward Laboratories in Kearney, NE. Ward Laboratories is an industries leader in soil health testing, and recently celebrated 40 years in business. Dr. Ward has committed his life to preserving soil resources through soil analysis, educating Nebraskans, and mentoring up and coming scientists. Although he is no longer the President of Ward Laboratories, he has passed down that position to his grandson, Nick Ward. Besides helping prepare Nick for this important role, he has also been teaching agronomy at the University of Nebraska at Kearney to ensure the next generation is prepared to take over as the next generation of industry leaders in soil analysis and soil health.

Dr. Jim Lewis

Jim Lewis is the Aaron Douglas professor of mathematics; director of the Center for Science, Mathematics and Computer Education; and the director of STEM education research initiatives in the Office of Research and Economic Development at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. From 2004-2006 he served as Chair of the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences. From 2015-2018 he worked at the National Science Foundation, first as Deputy Assistant Director and then as Acting Assistant Director for the Directorate for Education and Human Resources. Lewis was chair of the writing team for The Mathematical Education of Teachers II, co-chair of the National Research Council committee that produced Educating Teachers of Science, Mathematics and Technology: New Practices for the new Millennium, and a member of the AMS Task Force that produced Towards Excellence: Leading a Doctoral Mathematics Department in the 21st Century.
