Academy of Sciences Offers Mini-Grants
In 2006 the Nebraska Academy of Sciences started a new grant
program. Recently the Executive Committee
decided to try to publicize these mini-grants ($200 - $2000)
to a broader audience. These grants
are available to K-12 teachers and schools as well as colleges
and universities. The grant committee will give priority to
funding requests for research in the basic sciences, travel
to educational and scientific conferences, and science education
and equipment (formal and informal) for children and youth
K-12.
Grants will be considered on the basis of the application
and applicants will be notified whether or not they will receive
funding. However, the funds will not actually be distributed
until a report is submitted including receipts for actual
expenditures.
When applying for funds be sure to specify the granting year.
Recommendations for funding will be approved at the spring and Winter meetings of the NAS Executive Committee. Application due dates are May 1 and November 1.
Grant application forms are available above. Forms are also
available at the Nebraska Academy of Sciences office, 302
Morrill Hall, 14th and U Streets, Lincoln, NE 68588-0339.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call the
Academy office at: 402/472-2644.
